Ingredients

  • 2 cups Pecan halves
  • 2 teaspoons Orange zest
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, orange zest, orange juice, butter, water, cinnamon, and salt. Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture begins to bubble.

Step 3

Add the pecan halves to the saucepan and toss them gently to coat evenly with the orange glaze.

Step 4

Using a slotted spoon, transfer the glazed pecans to the prepared baking sheet, spreading them out in a single layer. Be sure to leave some space between the pecans to prevent clumping.

Step 5

Bake the pecans in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until they are golden and the glaze has hardened.

Step 6

Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the pecans cool completely. The coating will continue to harden as they cool.

Step 7

Once cooled, transfer the orange-crusted pecans to an airtight container for storage. They can be stored for up to two weeks.

Step 8

Serve as a snack or as a topping for salads, yogurt, or desserts, and enjoy!
