Ingredients

  • 12 oz Fettuccine pasta
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium Carrot, finely diced
  • 1 medium Celery stalk, finely diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 8 oz Ground beef
  • 8 oz Ground pork
  • 1.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 1 cup Dry white wine
  • 28 oz Hunt's crushed tomatoes
  • 1 leaf Bay leaf
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the fettuccine according to the package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.

Step 2

Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for 5–7 minutes until softened and fragrant.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1–2 minutes, being careful not to burn it.

Step 4

Add the ground beef and ground pork to the skillet. Break up the meat with a wooden spoon and cook until browned and no longer pink, about 8–10 minutes.

Step 5

Season the meat mixture with salt and black pepper. Stir to combine.

Step 6

Pour in the whole milk and simmer gently until the milk has mostly evaporated, about 5 minutes.

Step 7

Add the dry white wine and cook until it has reduced by half, another 5 minutes.

Step 8

Stir in Hunt's crushed tomatoes and the bay leaf. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for about 1 ½ hours, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 9

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. Remove and discard the bay leaf.

Step 10

Toss the cooked fettuccine with the Bolognese sauce until well coated.

Step 11

Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of fresh parsley if desired.
