Ingredients

  • 2 cups butter (unsalted)
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 cups honey
  • 6 cups rolled oats
  • 0.5 cups whole wheat flour
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cups chopped nuts (optional)
  • 0.5 cups dried fruit like raisins, cranberries, or chopped apricots (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Step 2

In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter completely. Stir in the brown sugar, white sugar, and honey. Cook gently until the mixture is smooth and well combined, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.

Step 3

Stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and cinnamon to the melted butter mixture.

Step 4

Add the rolled oats and whole wheat flour to the wet mixture, stirring until evenly coated. Fold in nuts and dried fruit if you're using them.

Step 5

Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan, pressing it down firmly with the back of a spatula or your hands to create an even layer.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown. Be careful not to overbake, as they will harden as they cool.

Step 7

Let the granola bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. This will take about 1-2 hours to fully set.

Step 8

Once cooled, carefully lift the granola bars out of the pan using the parchment paper (if used) or loosen the edges with a knife. Cut into 20 bars or your preferred size.

Step 9

Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or wrap individually and freeze for longer storage.
