Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 0.5 lb ground pork
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 0.75 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.25 cup barbecue sauce
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns
  • 4 pieces lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices sliced tomato
  • 4 slices sliced red onion
  • 8 slices pickles
  • 2 tbsp butter

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined but avoid overmixing to keep the meat tender.

Step 2

Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal portions and flatten each portion into a thin patty.

Step 3

Place about 2 tablespoons of shredded cheddar cheese in the center of 4 patties. Cover each with another patty and seal the edges tightly to encase the cheese in the center.

Step 4

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly grease the surface with cooking spray or oil.

Step 5

Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Avoid pressing down on the patties to keep the cheese filling intact.

Step 6

While the burgers are cooking, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and brush it onto the hamburger buns. Toast the buns on the grill or in a skillet until golden brown.

Step 7

In a small bowl, mix the Worcestershire sauce and barbecue sauce. Brush this mixture over the cooked patties during the last minute of cooking for added flavor.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers: Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by a cooked patty, a slice of tomato, a slice of red onion, and 2 pickle slices. Top with the upper bun.

Step 9

Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes and enjoy the cheesy, flavor-packed surprise!
