Ingredients

  • 8 slices sliced sandwich bread
  • 8 ounces deli-sliced turkey
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 teaspoons mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 0.5 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Spread 1/2 teaspoon of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.

Step 2

Spread 1/4 teaspoon of Dijon mustard on the other side of half the slices of bread.

Step 3

Layer 2 ounces of turkey and 1 slice of sharp cheddar cheese on the mustard side of each of the bread slices.

Step 4

Top each sandwich with the remaining slices of bread, mayonnaise side facing out.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder and black pepper, and sprinkle a pinch of the mixture over the outside of each sandwich.

Step 6

Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.

Step 7

Place sandwiches in the skillet (work in batches if needed) and cook for 3-4 minutes on one side or until golden brown.

Step 8

Add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the skillet, flip the sandwiches, and cook the other side for 3-4 minutes until the bread is golden and the cheese is fully melted.

Step 9

Remove from the skillet and let cool for 1-2 minutes before slicing in half and serving warm.
