Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Chicken wings
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 4 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 stick Butter
  • 0.5 cup Hot sauce (preferably Frank's RedHot)
  • 1 teaspoon White vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Honey

Directions

Step 1

Rinse and pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. Use a sharp knife to cut the wings into drumettes and flats, discarding the wing tips or saving them for stock.

Step 2

In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and ground black pepper.

Step 3

Coat each chicken wing piece in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Place the coated wings on a baking sheet or plate and let them sit for 15 minutes to allow the coating to adhere.

Step 4

While the wings rest, heat the vegetable oil in a large deep pan or fryer to 375°F (190°C).

Step 5

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, stir in the hot sauce, white vinegar, cayenne pepper, and honey. Mix well, then remove the sauce from heat and set aside.

Step 6

Carefully fry the chicken wings in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry each batch for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and fully cooked (internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C). Use a slotted spoon to transfer the wings to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 7

Once all the wings are fried, place them in a large mixing bowl. Pour the hot sauce mixture over the wings and toss gently to coat evenly.

Step 8

Serve immediately with celery sticks and a side of ranch or blue cheese dressing. Enjoy your homemade Hooters Style Hot Wings!
