Ingredients

  • 8 pieces Fresh figs
  • 3 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the fresh figs under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Remove the stems and cut the figs into quarters.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the quartered figs to the pan and gently stir to coat them in the melted butter.

Step 4

Drizzle the honey over the figs, then add the water, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and lemon juice.

Step 5

Gently stir the mixture and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Lower the heat to medium-low and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the figs are softened and the syrup has thickened slightly.

Step 6

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the topping cool for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 7

Serve the honeyed fig topping warm or at room temperature over your favorite dishes such as yogurt, pancakes, or ice cream. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
