Ingredients

  • 1 slice Thick slice of bread (preferably brioche or Texas toast)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 scoop Vanilla ice cream
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped mixed nuts (optional)
  • 0.5 cup Fresh fruit (such as strawberries or banana slices)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Take the thick slice of bread and, using a sharp knife, cut a square into the middle without cutting all the way through. Then, make smaller cube cuts within the square to create a checkerboard pattern. Do not cut through to the bottom crust.

Gently pull the inner bread pieces slightly apart to separate them, but keep them attached to the base.

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Brush the butter over the top and sides of the bread, making sure to get the butter into the cuts.
