Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
  • 3 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves (minced)
  • 0.5 cup Fresh orange juice (about 2 oranges)
  • 1 teaspoon Orange zest
  • 0.5 cup Chicken stock
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Water
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley (chopped, optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix together the honey, olive oil, ground cumin, paprika, ground cinnamon, salt, and black pepper to form a spice glaze.

Step 3

Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and rub the spice glaze evenly over them.

Step 4

Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil and place the chicken thighs skin-side down. Sear for 3-4 minutes until the skin is golden brown. Flip the chicken and sear the other side for 2 minutes.

Step 5

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).

Step 6

While the chicken is baking, make the orange sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the orange juice, orange zest, chicken stock, and minced garlic. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for 5 minutes to slightly reduce.

Step 7

In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Slowly add the slurry to the saucepan, whisking constantly, and cook until the sauce thickens (about 2 minutes). Remove the sauce from heat.

Step 8

Once the chicken is finished, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes.

Step 9

Spoon the orange sauce over the chicken thighs and garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired.

Step 10

Serve warm with your choice of sides, such as roasted vegetables or rice. Enjoy!
