Ingredients

  • 4 pieces (6-8 oz each) Steak (ribeye, sirloin, or your choice)
  • 2 large Yellow onion
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons Honey
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 2 tablespoons (optional for onions) Butter
  • 2 tablespoons (optional, chopped) Fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, mix honey, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika to create the marinade.

Step 2

Place the steaks in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour half of the marinade over the steaks, reserving the other half for basting and serving. Seal the bag or cover the dish, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (preferably 1-2 hours for better flavor).

Step 3

Peel and slice the onions into thick rings. Brush them lightly with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and set aside.

Step 4

Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly grease the grates or pan with 1 tablespoon of olive oil to prevent sticking.

Step 5

Remove the steaks from the marinade, letting excess marinade drip off. Discard used marinade. Place the steaks on the hot grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust to your preferred doneness. Baste the steaks with reserved marinade during the last few minutes of grilling.

Step 6

While grilling the steaks, place the sliced onions on the grill. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, brushing them with the remaining olive oil or adding butter for extra richness, until softened and lightly charred.

Step 7

Remove the steaks and onions from the grill. Let the steaks rest for 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Step 8

Serve the steaks topped with grilled onions. Optionally, drizzle with extra reserved marinade and garnish with chopped fresh parsley for added flavor and presentation.
