Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 0.25 cup Honey
  • 0.25 cup Dijon mustard
  • 0.5 cup Chicken broth
  • 0.25 cup Sour cream
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 0.75 cup Breadcrumbs, unseasoned
  • 2 tablespoons Butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish and set it aside.

Step 2

Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. They do not need to be fully cooked. Transfer the seared chicken to the prepared casserole dish.

Step 4

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 5

Whisk together the honey, Dijon mustard, chicken broth, and sour cream in a small bowl. Pour this mixture into the skillet with the garlic, stirring continuously for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat.

Step 6

Pour the honey mustard sauce evenly over the chicken breasts in the casserole dish.

Step 7

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the chicken and sauce.

Step 8

In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the melted butter. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the cheese layer.

Step 9

Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C) and the breadcrumb topping is golden brown.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 11

Sprinkle with chopped parsley, if desired, and serve warm alongside your favorite side dishes such as rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.
