Ingredients

  • 0.33 cup Honey
  • 0.33 cup Soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 4 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic cloves. Stir until well mixed.

Step 2

In a small bowl, whisk together water and cornstarch to form a slurry. Set aside.

Step 3

Heat a small saucepan over medium heat and add the sesame oil.

Step 4

Pour the honey-soy mixture into the saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

Add the cornstarch slurry to the saucepan while whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

Step 6

For a bit of heat, stir in red pepper flakes, if desired.

Step 7

Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving as a sauce or using it as a marinade.

Step 8

If using as a marinade, allow the sauce to cool completely before pouring over your choice of protein or vegetables. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 8 hours for best flavor.
