Ingredients

  • 50 grams Fresh ginger root
  • 6 pods Green cardamom pods
  • 100 grams Granulated sugar
  • 240 milliliters Water
  • 60 milliliters Fresh lime juice
  • 720 milliliters Sparkling water
  • 12 pieces Ice cubes
  • 4 slices Lime slices
  • 8 leaves Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Peel the ginger and slice it thinly. Slightly crush the cardamom pods using the back of a knife or a mortar and pestle.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, combine the sliced ginger, crushed cardamom, granulated sugar, and water. Place over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.

Step 3

Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes to infuse the flavors.

Remove the saucepan from heat and strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a heat-safe bowl or jar to remove the ginger and cardamom solids. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
