Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Pickle juice
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 2 cups Oil (for frying)
  • 2 pieces Burger buns
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 4 pieces Dill pickle slices

Directions

Step 1

Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness and cut them into two equal size fillets.

Step 2

In a large bowl, mix together the milk, pickle juice, and egg. Add chicken fillets to the mixture and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Step 3

In a separate shallow dish, combine flour, confectioners' sugar, salt, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and baking powder.

Step 4

Remove the chicken from the marinade and let any excess liquid drip off. Dredge each chicken fillet in the flour mixture, pressing it on both sides to ensure it is well-coated. Let each piece rest on a wire rack for a few minutes.

Step 5

Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Ensure the oil reaches about 350°F (175°C) before frying.

Step 6

Fry the chicken fillets, one or two at a time, for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Step 7

Remove the chicken from the oil and transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 8

Meanwhile, toast the burger buns in a separate pan with the butter until golden brown.

Step 9

To assemble the sandwich, place a fried chicken fillet on the bottom bun, add two dill pickle slices on top of the chicken, and cover with the top bun.

Step 10

Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Chick-fil-A style chicken sandwich.
