Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 1 cup Warm water (110°F or 45°C)
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried parsley
  • 2 tablespoons Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.

Step 2

Add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until the mixture forms a sticky dough.

Step 3

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5-6 minutes.

Step 4

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 5

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 6

Punch down the risen dough to release any air bubbles. Divide it into 12 equal portions.

Step 7

Roll each portion into a long breadstick, about 8-10 inches in length. Place the breadsticks on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.

Step 8

Cover the breadsticks loosely with a clean towel and let them rest for 15-20 minutes while the oven finishes preheating.

Step 9

Bake the breadsticks in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they are light golden brown on top.

Step 10

While the breadsticks are baking, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and parsley in a small bowl.

Step 11

Once the breadsticks are out of the oven, immediately brush them with the garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, if desired.

Step 12

Serve warm and enjoy your homemade breadsticks with your favorite dipping sauce or as a side dish.
