Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1.5 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon chili powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1

Begin by placing the raw almonds in a bowl of water. Allow them to soak for at least 2 hours up to overnight to soften. Drain and rinse before using.

Step 2

In a high-speed blender or food processor, combine the soaked almonds, fresh water, and lemon juice.

Step 3

Add nutritional yeast, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and olive oil to the mixture.

Step 4

Season with garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and salt.

Step 5

Blend all the ingredients on high speed until the mixture is very smooth and creamy. You may need to stop occasionally to scrape down the sides of the blender jar.

Step 6

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more salt or spices to your preference.

Step 7

Transfer the sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.

Step 8

Serve as a dip with vegetables, spread on sandwiches, or drizzle over tacos and salads. Store leftovers in the refrigerator and use within 1 week.
