Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 0.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cups brown sugar
  • 0.5 cups orange juice
  • 0.25 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoons grated orange zest
  • 1 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoons ground allspice
  • 1 medium diced apple (peeled and cored)
  • 0.5 cups raisins
  • 0.5 cups chopped pecans (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the cranberries under cold water and set aside.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, orange juice, apple cider vinegar, and orange zest. Stir together over medium heat until the sugars dissolve.

Step 3

Add the cranberries, grated ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.

Step 4

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries start to pop and the chutney begins to thicken.

Step 5

Add the diced apple and raisins to the saucepan. Continue simmering for another 10-12 minutes, until the apple softens and the chutney reaches the desired consistency. Stir frequently to prevent sticking.

Step 6

If using, stir in the chopped pecans during the final 2 minutes of cooking for added texture and flavor.

Step 7

Remove the chutney from heat and let it cool to room temperature. The chutney will continue to thicken as it cools.

Step 8

Transfer the chutney to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to a week. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
