Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 2 large Russet potatoes
  • 3 medium Carrots
  • 1 small Onion
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 4 sheets, roughly 12 inches each Aluminum foil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or prepare a campfire/grill with medium heat.

Step 2

Peel and thinly slice the russet potatoes into rounds. Place them in a bowl and toss with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Step 3

Peel and slice the carrots into thin sticks or rounds. Slice the onion into thin strips.

Step 4

Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape each into a thin patty.

Step 5

Lay out four sheets of aluminum foil. Place a layer of seasoned potatoes in the center of each sheet, followed by a few carrot sticks and onion slices.

Step 6

Place a ground beef patty on top of the vegetables. Add 1 tablespoon of butter on top of each patty for added flavor and moisture.

Step 7

Carefully fold up the sides of the foil and seal them tightly to form packets. Be sure they are sealed well to prevent any liquids from leaking out during cooking.

Step 8

Place the foil packets on a baking sheet (if using an oven) or directly over the campfire/grill. Cook for 35-40 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the ground beef is fully cooked.

Step 9

Carefully remove the packets from the heat and let them rest for 5 minutes. Open them cautiously to avoid steam burns.

Step 10

Serve the contents of each packet directly on a plate. Enjoy your delicious and easy Hobo's Supper!
