Ingredients

  • 800 grams Chicken breast
  • 3 tablespoons Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 300 grams Low-fat Greek yogurt
  • 0.5 cup Cucumber, grated
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh mint, chopped
  • 1 Red onion, diced
  • 1 cup Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 Green bell pepper, cut into chunks
  • 4 Whole wheat pita wraps
  • 6 Wooden skewers, soaked in water

Directions

Step 1

Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.

Step 2

In a separate small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to make the marinade.

Step 3

Pour the marinade over the chicken cubes and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to overnight.

Step 4

Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.

Step 5

Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers, alternating with chunks of green bell pepper and red onion pieces.

Step 6

Grill the skewers for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred on the edges.

Step 7

While the chicken is cooking, prepare the tzatziki sauce by combining the grated cucumber, Greek yogurt, fresh dill, and fresh mint in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.

Step 8

Warm the whole wheat pita wraps on the grill for a few seconds on each side.

Step 9

Assemble the souvlaki by placing the grilled chicken and veggies from the skewers onto the pita wraps, adding cherry tomatoes and a dollop of tzatziki sauce.

Step 10

Serve immediately and enjoy your high-protein traditional Greek souvlaki!
