Ingredients

  • 250 g raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 100 g extra firm tofu
  • 4 stalks green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 30 pieces wonton wrappers
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Begin by chopping the shrimp finely. Alternatively, you can pulse them in a food processor for a few seconds to achieve a coarse texture.

Step 2

Crumble the extra firm tofu into small pieces. Pat it dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, crumbled tofu, green onions, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, egg white, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything until well combined.

Step 4

To assemble the wontons, lay a wonton wrapper flat in your palm, and place approximately 1 teaspoon of the shrimp mixture in the center.

Step 5

Dip your finger in the water and moisten the edges of the wrapper, then fold the wonton into a triangle, pressing out any air and sealing the edges firmly.

Step 6

Bring the two opposite corners of the triangle together, moisten one of the corners with a dab of water, and press to seal tightly.

Step 7

Repeat this process until all the filling and wrappers are used.

Step 8

To cook the wontons, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Gently add the wontons in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 3-5 minutes until they float to the top and are fully cooked.

Step 9

Remove the wontons with a slotted spoon and serve immediately, garnished with extra chopped green onions or your choice of dipping sauce.
