Ingredients

  • 8 links chicken sausage
  • 2 cans ready-to-bake croissant dough
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened protein powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a small bowl, beat together the egg, milk, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

Step 3

Cook the chicken sausage links according to the package instructions until fully cooked. Once cooked, set aside to cool slightly.

Step 4

Unroll the croissant dough and separate along the perforated lines into individual triangles.

Step 5

Sprinkle 1/2 tablespoon of unsweetened protein powder evenly over each triangle of dough.

Step 6

Place a cooked sausage link at the wide end of each dough triangle. Sprinkle a little shredded cheddar cheese over the sausage.

Step 7

Starting from the wide end, roll up the croissant dough, encasing the sausage and cheese. Place each rolled croissant seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 8

Brush the top of each croissant with the egg mixture to give a glossy finish.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until the croissants are golden brown and puffed.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
