Ingredients

  • 250 grams high-protein penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 400 grams canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 0.5 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 50 grams parmesan cheese, grated
  • 6 fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the high-protein penne pasta and cook according to package instructions, until al dente.

Step 2

While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic and chopped onion to the skillet. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 4

Stir in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste, mixing well.

Step 5

Add the dried oregano, dried basil, red chili flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine all ingredients thoroughly.

Step 6

Simmer the sauce on low heat for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Step 7

Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and add it directly to the skillet with the tomato sauce.

Step 8

Toss the penne pasta in the tomato sauce until it's well coated.

Step 9

Serve the pasta in bowls, topped with grated parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves for garnish.
