Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef sirloin
  • 60 ml soy sauce
  • 120 ml pineapple juice
  • 30 grams brown sugar
  • 3 units garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoons red chili flakes
  • 2 units green onions
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Trim excess fat from the beef sirloin and slice it into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, pineapple juice, and brown sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.

Step 3

Mince the garlic cloves and grate the ginger, then add them to the marinade along with red chili flakes.

Step 4

Add the beef strips to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for more flavor.

Step 5

While the beef is marinating, slice the green onions thinly, and set them aside.

Step 6

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add sesame oil to the pan.

Step 7

Remove the beef from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off, and carefully place the beef strips in the pan in a single layer. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.

Step 8

Cook each side for about 2-3 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through.

Step 9

Once cooked, remove the beef from the pan and transfer it to a serving platter.

Step 10

Sprinkle the cooked beef with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Step 11

Season with salt and black pepper to taste before serving.

Step 12

Serve hot and enjoy your high-protein Hawaiian barbecue beef!
