Ingredients

  • 500 grams large prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 50 grams whey protein powder, unflavored
  • 50 grams cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 pieces lemon wedges, for serving

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the prawns under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Set aside.

Step 2

In a shallow bowl, whisk the egg whites until slightly frothy.

Step 3

In another shallow bowl, combine the whey protein powder, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 5

Dip each prawn into the egg whites, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat with the protein and cornstarch mixture, pressing lightly to adhere the mixture to the prawns.

Step 6

Working in batches, add the coated prawns to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the prawns are golden brown and crispy, and cooked through.

Step 7

Remove the cooked prawns from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

Step 8

Serve the crispy prawns immediately, garnished with lemon wedges.
