Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup vanilla protein powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, vanilla protein powder, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.

Step 2

In another bowl, beat the melted butter and granulated sugar together until creamy.

Step 3

Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and beat until combined.

Step 4

Mix in the Greek yogurt and milk until smooth.

Step 5

Gradually fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.

Step 6

Heat the vegetable oil in a large deep pot or fryer to 350°F (177°C).

Step 7

While the oil is heating, gently roll out the dough on a floured surface to a 1/4-inch thickness.

Step 8

Use a doughnut cutter to cut out doughnut shapes. Gather and re-roll scraps to cut additional doughnuts until all dough is used.

Step 9

Carefully place a few doughnuts at a time into the hot oil, frying them until golden brown on each side, approximately 2-3 minutes per side.

Step 10

Remove the doughnuts with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 11

Allow the doughnuts to cool slightly before serving.
