Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup Vanilla whey protein powder
  • 3 cups Confectioners' sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Milk or cream
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, add the softened unsalted butter. Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the butter until it is creamy and smooth, about 2 minutes.

Step 2

Gradually add the vanilla whey protein powder to the butter, beating on low speed until combined. This step ensures the protein powder is well incorporated and smooth.

Step 3

Slowly add the confectioners' sugar, about 1/2 cup at a time, mixing on low speed to prevent the sugar from flying out of the bowl. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

Step 4

Once the sugar is fully incorporated, add the vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of milk or cream. Increase the mixer speed to medium and continue beating the mixture until it's smooth and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

Step 5

If the frosting is too thick, add the remaining tablespoon of milk or cream, 1 teaspoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

Step 6

Finally, add the salt and beat for another 30 seconds to ensure everything is well mixed.

Step 7

Use the frosting immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Allow to return to room temperature and re-whip before using if stored.
