Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin steak
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 large garlic cloves
  • 1 inch piece fresh ginger
  • 1 medium red bell pepper
  • 1 medium carrot
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 4 cups cooked quinoa or brown rice

Directions

Step 1

Slice the beef sirloin steak against the grain into thin strips for tenderness.

Step 2

In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, and water until smooth to make the sauce.

Step 3

Cut the broccoli into florets, mince the garlic, peel and grate the ginger, thinly slice the red bell pepper, peel and julienne the carrot, and chop the green onions.

Step 4

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Step 5

Add the beef strips to the hot skillet and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes, until browned and just cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 6

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil.

Step 7

Add the minced garlic and grated ginger and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 8

Add the broccoli, red bell pepper, and carrot to the skillet and stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes, until the vegetables are tender yet crisp.

Step 9

Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables.

Step 10

Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and vegetables, stirring constantly to coat everything evenly. Cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce has thickened.

Step 11

Garnish with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds.

Step 12

Serve the beef and broccoli stir fry hot over cooked quinoa or brown rice for a complete meal.
