Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers
  • 4 cups water
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 3 cups ice cubes
  • 6 leaves mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
  • 4 slices lime slices (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

Step 2

Remove the saucepan from heat and add 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers. Let the flowers steep for 10 minutes.

Step 3

Strain the tea into a heat-safe pitcher to remove the hibiscus flowers. Discard the flowers.

Step 4

Stir in 0.25 cup of granulated sugar while the tea is still warm, until the sugar is fully dissolved.

Step 5

Add 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice to the tea and mix well.

Step 6

Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then transfer it to the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour.

Step 7

When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled hibiscus tea over the ice.
