Ingredients

  • 6 oz Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cups Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 tsp Baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 0.5 cups Vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Boiling water
  • 0.5 cups Butter
  • 2.5 cups Powdered sugar
  • 0.25 cups Heavy cream

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir until well blended.

Step 3

Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix on medium speed using an electric mixer for 2 minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally.

Step 4

Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin but ensure it's fully incorporated.

Step 5

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared baking pans.

Step 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

Step 7

Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes. Then remove them from the pans and let them cool completely on wire racks.

Step 8

While the cakes are cooling, melt the Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars and butter together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring until smooth.

Step 9

Gradually add the powdered sugar to the melted chocolate mixture, beating until smooth. Slowly add the heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until the frosting reaches a spreadable consistency.

Step 10

Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting over the top.

Step 11

Place the second cake layer on top of the first and spread frosting evenly over the top and sides of the cake.

Step 12

Optionally, decorate with additional Hershey's Milk Chocolate shavings or pieces.

Step 13

Slice, serve, and enjoy this luscious Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Cake!
