Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 Hershey's milk chocolate bars (standard size)
  • 3 cups salted peanuts

Directions

Step 1

Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving a slight overhang for easy removal, and lightly grease the paper with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.

Step 2

In a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the brown sugar and corn syrup, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and begins to bubble.

Step 3

Reduce the heat to medium-low and stir in the sweetened condensed milk. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, for about 10-12 minutes, or until the mixture thickens slightly and reaches a light caramel color. Be careful not to let it scorch.

Step 4

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

Pour the caramel mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Step 6

Immediately press the chocolate bars evenly onto the surface of the caramel mixture while it's still warm. Allow the heat from the caramel to soften the chocolate for a few minutes.

Step 7

Use a spatula or knife to spread the melted chocolate evenly over the top.

Step 8

Sprinkle the salted peanuts evenly over the melted chocolate, pressing them down lightly with your hands to ensure they stick.

Step 9

Let the bars cool at room temperature for about 1 hour, then refrigerate for another 1-2 hours until fully set.

Step 10

Once set, lift the bars out of the dish using the parchment paper overhang. Place on a cutting board and cut into 24 squares or bars.

Step 11

Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
