Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for rolling)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Lightly flour a clean work surface and roll out the puff pastry sheet into a 12x12-inch square.

Step 3

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash. Set aside.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, mix the Parmesan cheese, parsley, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Step 5

Brush the entire surface of the puff pastry with the egg wash.

Step 6

Sprinkle the herb and cheese mixture evenly across half of the puff pastry, covering one side completely.

Step 7

Fold the other half of the puff pastry over the cheese and herb-covered side, gently pressing down to seal.

Step 8

Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, slice the folded pastry into strips approximately 1 inch wide.

Step 9

Twist each strip a few times and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving an inch of space between each twist.

Step 10

Brush the twists lightly with the remaining egg wash for a golden finish.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the twists are puffed and golden brown.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
