Ingredients

  • 16 oz Ground beef (80% lean)
  • 2 cloves Minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 small Shallot, finely diced
  • 1 large Egg yolk
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp Kosher salt
  • 0.5 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 4 large Burger buns
  • 2 tbsp Butter, softened
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 1 large Tomato, sliced
  • 1 medium Red onion, sliced
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 slices Pickles

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, diced shallot, egg yolk, Dijon mustard, chopped parsley, ground black pepper, kosher salt, and cayenne pepper.

Step 2

Use your hands to gently mix the ingredients together until evenly combined. Avoid overmixing to ensure tender burgers.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a small indent in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing up while cooking.

Step 4

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.

Step 5

Cook the burger patties for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to let it melt.

Step 6

While the burgers cook, spread softened butter on the insides of the burger buns and toast them in a separate pan or under a broiler until golden brown.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by layering the bottom bun with a lettuce leaf, a cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, a few slices of red onion, and a pickle slice. Cover with the top bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as fries or a simple green salad.
