Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices crusty bread (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season them with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Set aside.

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and sear for 1–2 minutes per side, or until they just turn pink. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3

Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the skillet. Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Step 4

Stir in the red chili flakes, smoked paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for 30 seconds to bloom the spices.

Step 5

Add the lemon juice and stir to combine. Let the sauce simmer for about 1 minute to develop its flavors.

Step 6

Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss them in the sauce to coat evenly. Cook for 2–3 minutes, or until the shrimp are fully cooked through.

Step 7

Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately, either as an appetizer or over rice. For a complete experience, pair with crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
