Ingredients

  • 16 oz Cheese tortellini
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, finely diced
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1.5 tsp Crushed red pepper flakes
  • 28 oz Crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.25 cup Fresh basil, chopped
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1.5 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Cook the cheese tortellini according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.

Step 4

Stir in the minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes, cooking for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 5

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 6-8 minutes.

Step 6

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from heat and mix in the chopped fresh basil.

Step 8

In a 9x13-inch baking dish, layer half of the cooked tortellini. Pour half of the beef arrabbiata sauce over the tortellini and sprinkle with half of the grated Parmesan cheese.

Step 9

Repeat the layers with the remaining tortellini and sauce, then top with the shredded mozzarella cheese.

Step 10

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

Step 11

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly with golden edges.

Step 12

Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with additional fresh basil if desired. Enjoy!
