Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 0.5 cups Blue cheese crumbles
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp Garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp Onion powder
  • 0.75 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 4 pieces Burger buns
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 4 pieces Tomato slices
  • 4 pieces Red onion slices
  • 2 tbsp Butter

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, add the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix with your hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.

Step 2

Divide the beef mixture into eight equal portions and form them into thin, round patties (about 4 inches in diameter).

Step 3

Place 1-2 tablespoons of blue cheese crumbles in the center of four patties. Carefully top each with another patty, sealing the edges tightly to encase the cheese completely.

Step 4

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a grill, lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking. If using a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the pan.

Step 5

Cook the burgers for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for fully cooked burgers.

Step 6

While the burgers are cooking, toast the burger buns. Spread the remaining butter onto the cut sides of the buns and place them on the grill or skillet until golden brown and slightly crisp, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a cooked patty. Top with a slice of tomato, red onion, and the top half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately and enjoy the burst of creamy blue cheese in every bite!
