Ingredients

  • 56 oz Canned baked beans
  • 6 slices Bacon
  • 1 Small onion
  • 1 Green bell pepper
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium heat, fry the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet, place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain, and crumble it once cooled.

Step 3

In the same skillet with the bacon drippings, sauté the finely diced onion and green bell pepper until softened, about 5 minutes. Mince the garlic and add it to the skillet, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the canned baked beans, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, mustard, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.

Step 5

Stir the sautéed onion, bell pepper, and garlic mixture into the bowl with the bean mixture. Add the crumbled bacon and stir to combine.

Step 6

Transfer the mixture into a 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Step 7

Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the beans are thickened and bubbling.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and let the beans rest for 10 minutes before serving.
