  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • 1 medium red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
  • 400 grams canned diced tomatoes
  • 400 grams canned kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 400 grams canned black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 250 ml beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 bay leaf

Directions

Step 1

Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.

Step 2

Add the ground beef to the pot and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 7-8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Stir in the red and green bell peppers and cook for another 5 minutes until they begin to soften.

Add the canned diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, beef broth, and tomato paste to the pot. Stir well to combine.

Season the mixture with chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Add the bay leaf, and stir everything together.
