Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.33 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream, plus more for brushing
  • 1 unit Egg, large
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup Dried cherries, roughly chopped
  • 0.5 cup Mini chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons Turbinado sugar (optional, for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3

Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

In a small bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
