  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 1.25 cups Warm water
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Egg white
  • 10 cups Water (for boiling)
  • 2 tablespoons Baking soda

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of the whole wheat flour, yeast, warm water, and honey. Stir until smooth and let it sit for about 10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

Step 2

Add the olive oil, black pepper, salt, and the remaining flour to the yeast mixture. Stir together until a dough starts to form.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 8 to 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, approximately 1 hour.
