Ingredients

  • 16 oz lean ground turkey
  • 0.5 cup rolled oats
  • 1 large egg white
  • 0.5 cup onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 0.5 cup low-fat shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic cloves.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground turkey, rolled oats, egg white, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, black pepper, and salt.

Step 3

Using clean hands or a fork, mix all the ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix as this can make the patties tough.

Step 4

Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape each part into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.

Step 5

Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to ensure even cooking.

Step 6

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 7

Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the patties are browned.

Step 8

Sprinkle the low-fat shredded cheddar cheese evenly over each patty during the last 2 minutes of cooking and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.

Step 9

Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving.

Step 10

Serve the juicy cheeseburger patty on a whole-grain bun with your choice of heart-healthy toppings like lettuce, tomato, and avocado.
