Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 0.25 cup nutritional yeast
  • 0.25 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 0.25 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 2 large garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon sea salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Soak the raw almonds in cold water for at least 4 hours or overnight to soften them. Drain and rinse well before using.

Step 2

In a high-speed blender or food processor, combine the soaked almonds, water, nutritional yeast, olive oil, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, tahini, and soy sauce.

Step 3

Peel the garlic cloves and add them to the blender along with chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, sea salt, and black pepper.

Step 4

Blend the mixture on high speed until smooth and creamy. You may need to stop occasionally to scrape down the sides of the blender.

Step 5

Taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings if needed. For a thinner consistency, add a bit more water and blend again.

Step 6

Transfer the sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to let the flavors meld. The sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Step 7

Serve chilled as a dip with veggies, a spread for sandwiches, or a topping for salads.
