Ingredients

  • 1 ball Whole grain pizza dough
  • 200 grams Lean ground beef (95% lean)
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 small Yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 medium Bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup Tomato sauce, low-sodium
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano, dried
  • 1 teaspoon Basil, dried
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red pepper flakes
  • 100 grams Mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup Reduced-fat mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Fresh spinach leaves

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 220°C (430°F) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

Step 2

In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until softened, about 3 minutes.

Step 3

Add the lean ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Step 4

Stir in the tomato sauce, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes to the beef mixture. Simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.

Step 5

Roll out the whole grain pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness.

Step 6

Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough onto a piece of parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Step 7

Evenly spread the beef and tomato mixture over the pizza dough, leaving a border for the crust.

Step 8

Scatter the sliced bell pepper and mushrooms over the top of the pizza.

Step 9

Sprinkle the reduced-fat mozzarella cheese evenly over the toppings.

Step 10

Slide the pizza with the parchment paper onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven.

Step 11

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust is golden brown.

Step 12

Remove the pizza from the oven and top with fresh spinach leaves.

Step 13

Let it cool slightly before slicing into wedges.

Step 14

Serve and enjoy your heart-healthy homemade beef pizza!
