Ingredients

  • 1 pound Whole wheat pizza dough
  • 0.5 cup Low-sodium tomato sauce
  • 6 ounces Fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup Baby spinach
  • 1 cup Cherry tomatoes
  • 0.5 medium Red onion
  • 1 small Red bell pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 large Garlic clove
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.25 cup Fresh basil leaves
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.

Step 2

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the whole wheat pizza dough to your desired thickness. Transfer the rolled dough onto a piece of parchment paper for easier handling.

Step 3

Brush the surface of the dough with olive oil, which helps to prevent sogginess from the toppings.

Step 4

Spread the low-sodium tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about a half-inch border for the crust.

Step 5

Slice the fresh mozzarella cheese into thin rounds and place them evenly over the sauce.

Step 6

Rinse the baby spinach and pat dry. Distribute it evenly over the pizza.

Step 7

Cut the cherry tomatoes in half, thinly slice the red onion, and dice the red bell pepper. Arrange these vegetables evenly on top of the spinach.

Step 8

Mince the garlic clove and sprinkle it over the vegetables.

Step 9

Sprinkle the Italian seasoning, black pepper, and salt evenly over the entire pizza.

Step 10

Carefully transfer the pizza along with the parchment paper onto the preheated oven's pizza stone or baking sheet.

Step 11

Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.

Step 12

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before slicing.

Step 13

Cut into 8 pieces and serve warm.
