Ingredients

  • 1 pound Extra-lean ground beef
  • 4 pieces Whole wheat burger buns
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 leaves Romaine lettuce
  • 1 large Tomatoes
  • 1 small Red onion
  • 1 medium Avocado

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine the extra-lean ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, ground black pepper, and salt. Mix gently until the spices are evenly incorporated into the meat.

Step 2

Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties. Press the center of each patty slightly to prevent it from bulging while grilling.

Step 3

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Lightly brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Place the patties on the hot grill and cook them for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for thorough cooking.

Step 5

While the patties are cooking, prepare the toppings: slice the tomato, red onion, and avocado into thin slices and wash the romaine lettuce leaves.

Step 6

Once the patties are done, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes.

Step 7

Toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill for about 1-2 minutes, until they are lightly crispy.

Step 8

Assemble each burger by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by a grilled patty, a slice of tomato, a few onion rings, and avocado slices.

Step 9

Top with the remaining half of the bun and serve immediately.
