Ingredients

  • 500 g lean ground turkey
  • 500 g lean ground beef
  • 120 g whole grain breadcrumbs
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 120 ml low-fat milk
  • 30 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 medium white onion
  • 2 medium garlic cloves
  • 1 medium red bell pepper
  • 15 g paprika
  • 10 g dried oregano
  • 15 g fresh parsley
  • 5 g black pepper
  • 5 g salt
  • 15 ml olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Lightly grease a loaf pan with a small amount of olive oil.

Step 2

Finely dice the onion and red bell pepper and mince the garlic cloves.

Step 3

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion, garlic, and red bell pepper. Sauté until the vegetables are soft and aromatic, about 5 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground turkey and beef with the sautéed vegetables.

Step 5

Add the breadcrumbs, egg whites, low-fat milk, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix thoroughly using your hands or a spatula until all ingredients are well combined.

Step 6

Stir in the paprika, dried oregano, chopped fresh parsley, black pepper, and salt. Mix again to distribute the seasonings evenly throughout the meat mixture.

Step 7

Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan, pressing it down gently to ensure there are no air pockets.

Step 8

Place the loaf pan in the oven and bake for approximately 60 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the top is nicely browned.

Step 9

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices redistribute and makes slicing easier.

Step 10

Slice the meatloaf and serve it warm with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a heart-healthy meal.
