Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 medium potatoes, diced
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced into rounds
  • 1 cup green beans, trimmed
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.25 cup water or beef broth

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 2

Form the seasoned ground beef into four evenly-sized patties and set aside.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the hamburger patties. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the pan and set them aside on a plate.

Step 4

In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the diced potatoes and sliced carrots. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften and develop a golden color.

Step 5

Add the green beans and sliced onion to the pan. Sprinkle with paprika, dried thyme, a pinch of salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

Step 6

Pour in the water or beef broth. Cover the pan with a lid and let the vegetables cook for another 8-10 minutes, or until they are tender.

Step 7

Return the hamburger patties to the pan, nestling them among the vegetables. Cover and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes to warm the patties and allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 8

Serve hot, plating each hamburger surrounded by the seasoned vegetables. Enjoy your comforting, one-pan meal!
