Ingredients

  • 24 pieces canned escargot
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 large garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • 1 medium shallot
  • 2 tablespoons dry white wine
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 24 pieces escargot shells (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a small baking dish or line up cleaned escargot shells in a baking tray if using.

Step 2

Drain the canned escargot and rinse them under cold water. Pat them dry gently with paper towels and set aside.

Step 3

Finely mince the garlic, chop the shallot, and finely chop the parsley.

Step 4

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the unsalted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, chopped shallot, dry white wine, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until it forms a smooth, herb-infused butter.

Step 5

If using escargot shells, stuff each shell with a small dollop of the butter mixture, insert an escargot into each shell, and top with a little more of the butter mixture. If not using shells, arrange the escargot in a baking dish and spoon the butter mixture evenly over them.

Step 6

Sprinkle breadcrumbs lightly on top of the escargot or the buttered shells for a crisp finish.

Step 7

Place the prepared escargot in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the butter is bubbly and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.

Step 8

Carefully remove from the oven and serve immediately with crusty bread to soak up the rich, garlicky butter.
