Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 8 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup Warm water
  • 2 pieces Large eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Melted unsalted butter (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it just begins to steam (do not boil). Stir in 8 tablespoons of unsalted butter and the granulated sugar until melted and combined. Remove from heat and let cool to lukewarm.

Step 2

In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in the warm water. Let it stand for about 5 minutes until foamy.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the lukewarm milk mixture, eggs, and salt until well combined. Stir in the yeast mixture.

Step 4

Gradually add the all-purpose flour, about 1 cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms. The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.

Step 5

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5-6 minutes at medium speed.

Step 6

Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning the dough to coat it with oil. Cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

Step 7

Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spacing them evenly.

Step 8

Cover the dish loosely with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and let the rolls rise again for about 30-40 minutes, or until puffy.

Step 9

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and immediately brush the tops with the melted butter. Serve warm and enjoy!
