Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 medium, finely chopped Yellow onion
  • 2 minced Garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup Sour cream
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.25 tsp Black pepper
  • 12 oz or slices, as needed Egg noodles or sturdy bread (toast)
  • 2 tbsp, chopped (optional, for garnish) Fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 7-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat and set the beef aside in a bowl.

Step 2

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 3

Sprinkle the flour over the onions and garlic, stirring constantly for about 1 minute to create a roux. This will thicken the stroganoff sauce.

Step 4

Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps. Add the Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper, and bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the cooked ground beef. Let the mixture simmer gently for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Step 6

Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the sour cream until fully incorporated into the sauce. Adjust seasoning with additional salt or pepper if needed.

Step 7

Meanwhile, prepare the egg noodles according to the package instructions, or toast the bread slices until golden brown.

Step 8

Serve the stroganoff mixture over cooked egg noodles or on top of the toasted bread slices. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
