Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Fresh tuna steaks
  • 4 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 3 pieces Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 14-ounce can Canned diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Capers, drained
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoons Red chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.

Step 2

Rub the tuna steaks with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper. Set aside to marinate while you prepare the sauce.

Step 3

In a medium-sized skillet, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.

Step 5

Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, capers, parsley, red chili flakes, and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and black pepper. Allow the sauce to simmer for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

Step 6

Stir in the lemon juice and remove the sauce from heat. Set aside and keep warm.

Step 7

Place the tuna steaks on the preheated grill. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the fish is opaque and cooked to your preferred doneness. Avoid overcooking to ensure the tuna remains tender.

Step 8

Transfer the grilled tuna to a serving platter and spoon the warm tomato and caper sauce over the top.

Step 9

Garnish with additional chopped parsley if desired, and serve immediately.
